So a guy named Shea Gunther (middle above) had a kickass graphic design teacher in high school named Higgins who taught a screen printing class. Shea got an A in the class, made a little scratch selling Tshirts to his friends, and fell in love with the fumes of emulsion and solvent, and not just for the heady buzz. After high school Shea went to college and put down the printing squeegees.

After a decade of living the eco-entrepreneur life, Shea settled down in a little house in Cumberland, Maine and decided to get back into Tshirts, mainly as a result of his own sad and pathetic shirt collection. He figured if anything, starting a t-shirt company would fill his closet.

Shea IMed his pal Hank Green, the brain behind the EcoGeek network and half of the super-popular duo The Vlog Brothers and gave him the quick pitch. It went something along the lines of:

SheaGunther: Hey Hank. I’m starting a Tshirt company. Wanna invest?

HankGreen: Yeah, totally

Shea IMed another pal, Digg god and social media pro Muhammad Saleem, and told him Hank was going to invest in his t-shirt company. Muhammad was in at ‘Hank Green’ and threw his lot in. That was followed up with an email to another pal, blogger and Twitter pro David Badash who signed on just as fast.

Hank brought in his pal, Alan Lastufka author of an O’Reilly Media book YouTube: An Insider’s Guide to Climbing the Charts as an investor and Shea rounded things out with his pal Ryan Caldwell, an online media mogul with a stable of sites lead by his flagship PopCrunch, a leading celebrity blog and video show.

Now Shea is working hard to get the first designs printed and the website up and running. He’s blogging about the whole thing on the Meatspace tees blog.

If anyone is wondering, he’s also having a fscking blast.
